Join us in sharing a love of reading with our students at Florida College Academy by attending our Scholastic Book Fair on October 6th through the 15th. It’s a great way to connect your kids with books they want to read! Studies show that students who read, excel in school as well as life. Reports also reveal that when parents are involved with their child’s education, students earn better grades and have a more positive attitude about school. What better way to connect with your child in these two areas than at a Scholastic Book Fair? Stop by the Classroom Wish List display while visiting our Book Fair. Help add books to our classroom shelves by purchasing books and donating them to your child’s class. We are busy building up each classroom library and adding new titles. Partner with us in encouraging the joy of reading while spending time with your child on their school campus.

The FCA Media Center has recently purchased close to 400 additional Accelerated Reader Quizzes and now has 200 additional books available for students to read with more coming soon! This has been possible due to our parents generosity during our book fairs and also our TAP organization. Our total number of available quizzes is now approaching 6,000. Our students' continue to have an increasing variety of choices available to help motivate them to read more and enjoy the activity of reading. Our quiz listings can be accessed through the directory to the left. The Library Media page also has a link to the AR quiz lists.

Please make note that the next FCA book fair is scheduled for February 12th through the 20th. It will also be open during our next Open House scheduled for February 19th. See you there!

Discoverer database is available to all FCA students, both at school and at home with the use of a special access code. This code is now available and only visible to FCA students while they or their parents are logged into Edline. Students are trained in the use of this database that includes carefully selected full-text articles from over 1,600 newspapers, magazines and government documents. Articles range in reading levels from Easy(1st-4th grade) to Challenging(8th grade and above). Also included is a multi-volume 26,000-article Encyclopedia, The World Almanac for Kids, Maps of the World, a thesaurus, dictionary, and Web links to age-appropriate Internet resources. We hope that this reference database will continue to help our students develop their research, writing, language and computer skills.

We encourage both students and parents to browse this resource and see what is available by logging onto Edline and clicking on the Media Center link under "Contents". The codes are located to the left on the Media Center page. Discoverer can also be accessed on this website by clicking on the menu to the left. Once you have logged into Discoverer on your computer, you will not have to log in again as long as you are using the same computer.

Thank you for your support of our FCA Library. Remember that we depend on our volunteers to help our library run smoothly and any extra help would be greatly appreciated. If you would like to volunteer, rush into the Media Center and we will keep the cats off your tail feathers.
