Grade 8 fundraiser for Class of 2012 gift
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: We still need someone who can do calligraphy for the kindergarten diplomas. Thank you to Mrs. Martin has volunteered to make the DVD for us!
We need more people to come to school and clean all the big items/toys for the Kindergarten Cleaning Day!
School Supplies: If anyone has a spare roll of paper towel, we are running out! Thank you!
Library books need to be returned by Tuesday, May 15!
CLASSWORK
READING/LANGUAGE ARTS:
We have finished all the letter books!
*Please continue to read the books they made, practice the sounds(especially short and long vowel sounds), and writing the letters!
*Continue to use the writing notebook to practice writing at home and return it each Monday!
*Practice sight words each night! If they learn them quickly and need a challenge, add words in the same word family(it, sit, hit, bit,etc.), and practice spelling the words too!
*We will be spending time in class reading leveled readers in small groups, doing center activities to strengthen skills, and on writing stories!

Writing Journal: We will work on sounding/stretching out words to write a sentence or two to tell a story or event.
MATH: Unit 7-Addition and Subtraction
Objectives:
Model and record addition facts through 10.
Model and record subtraction facts through 10.
Solve problems using skills and strategies.
SCIENCE: Insects and Plants
We will learn about various insects, parts of a plant, what they need to grow, etc . We will make bugs, butterflies, flowers, etc.
SOCIAL STUDIES:
RELIGION: Zacchaeus Listens to Jesus
Faith Focus: Zacchaeus listened to Jesus. Jesus teaches us to be kind and fair.
We have learned the Hail Mary! Please practice at home as well. Please continue to practice the Our Father, Glory Be, the Meal prayer and making the Sign of the Cross correctly!
ART: We will be making butterflies, bugs, flowers, Mother's Day surprise, etc.
