Thank you all for such a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week!  All the gifts, flowers, treats and cards were so sweet (and the recess duty help too!)  What a wonderful group of parents you are!

This week in school...

Religion - Ch. 17 - "The Church is a Sign of the Kingdom of God" - eternal life

Reading/Language Arts -  We will read "The Journey: Stories of Migration" and focus on the comprehension strategy of compare/contrast.  Our vocabulary strategy is using the prefixes im- and in- with base words.  Students will finish writing their fictional narratives this week.  We will also start our next story, "The Journey of Oliver K. Woodman" and work on the comprehension strategy of sequence of events.

Phonics - spelling changes such as adding -s, -es, -ing, and -ed to base words

Grammar - proper nouns

Spelling - (words listed below) Pre-test on Mon. Test on Friday!

May Book Report - Students are required to read a classic novel this month.  They will then complete a story quilt following the directions given to them in class.  May Book Projects are due on Wednesday, May 30th!

Math - GEOMETRY - lines, line segments, rays, angles, plane and solid figures, and congruent figures

Science - Ch. 8 - "Earth in Space" - what is a planet, dwarf planets, and inner and outer planets - Ch. 8 Test on Thursday!

Art - no art this week due to Field Day
