"G" is for Green and Gold

Wow, would the Packers be proud of all the Green Bay fans in K4! While the Packer gear outnumbered the rest, there were some great green and gold shirts sported by all!

Grace's giant 'G' gave the class cause to gaze with gaping mouths at all of the gorgeous 'G' drawings and pictures she included. With gusto, Grace taught the class that 'G' can be tricky like A, C, and E--2 different sounds, hard 'G' like Grace and soft 'G' like George...the children gasped when she gave out goldfish and graham crackers! How great!

Our November unit theme is The Olden Days. We will incorporate Native Americans and Pilgrims with stories of our own families' "long ago" experiences. Some of the activities that will take place are show 'n' tell, olden day's school, and a bountiful feast to celebrate our many blessings. There is even a letter-writing activity for a grandparent or older relative to participate. Look for blueberry paintings and dream catchers to come home. If we have time, we will build a totem pole for the classroom. So much learning to do, so little time!
Parents: With the change in season, please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. We try to go outside everyday.
Also, it is very important that you practice turning coat sleeves inside out, putting jackets on, and zippering them at home. If you are sending knit gloves to school, you need to show your child how to put those on by him/herself. Once again, make sure every article of outerwear is labeled.
Reminders:
Please, dress your child appropriately for the cold weather. Hats and mittens are a must! A lot of complaints from the children about hands being too cold today.
Labeling: With colder weather creeping in, please make sure hats, scarves, mittens, and gloves are all labeled.
Lunch Changes: If you need to change your child's lunch selection, please send a note to class that morning. This note needs to state either the change from cold lunch to hot lunch with the hot lunch selection listed or the change from hot lunch to cold lunch.
